IT’S GOOD TO BE A COUGAR

A hearty “thank you” to all those who participated in the April 21 Clean-Up Day for the Cougars.  Scott Goldberg and his “crew”, Rich Stratz, Dustin McGeehan, Mike Beltle; along with Alina Whittle and Jean Rhoades and their “crews” deserve some special thanks for their outstanding work in the clean-up effort to get the fields ready for Opening Day.

The Cougars would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to everyone that came to our Opening Day celebration!  The weather cooperated this year and it appeared that everyone was enjoying themselves.  Thank you to the Philadelphia Police and Firefighters for leading the parade down Richmond Street.  Thank you to Brielle Goldberg, who opened up the day with world’s cutest rendition of “The Pledge of Allegiance.”  Thanks to Bobby Henon, Patty Pat Kozlowski, Chris Kulb and three of the City’s finest officers for throwing out the first pitches.    The crowd attending was able to see the Cougars NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP cheer team perform their winning routine and were also able to watch the 9/10 boys battle it out in an exciting game of baseball.  Thanks, as always, to Jim Pezzano, who was there to DJ, MC and provide entertainment for the large gathering.  Thank you to Dietz & Watson for providing hot dogs for everyone in attendance and thanks to Bobby Henon for the water ice.  And special thanks to Tim from Shaufler from PhillyGame Train for keeping the little ones bouncing around in the moon bounce.

And of course, THANK YOU to the dedicated Board members and volunteers, who day after day continue to make sure that the Cougars are the best sports organization in town.  IT’S GOOD TO BE A COUGAR!!

Last but not least, thank you to those who attended the beef and beer.  Although a small gathering, the night was filled with good food, fun and laughter.  THANK YOU to the Point No Point for hosting,to Tom Maguire (Block) for keeping the beer flowing, to Scott Goldberg, Sue Pickford and Alina Whittle for the tasty food;  to Cathy Graves and Jean & Ken Rhoades for the delicious desserts, to Jim Pezzano & Ken Pickford for spinning the records, to Robin Garman, Trish Fries and Dennis Hood for the entertainment on the dance floor and a special shout out to the Cougars very own pong champions Amber Goldberg and Lori Marko; who could not have won without Chris and Kris Misko cheering them on.

Play Ball.

Baseball & Softball are up and running. Mother Nature did not cooperate in preparation for the season’s opening but the teams managed and the players are out there making the best of it.  We have 5 travel softball teams and 8 travel baseball teams.

“Remember kid, there’s heroes and there’s legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die, follow your heart kid, and you’ll never go wrong.”
